First printed in 1941, this is the 1943 edition. 79 pages with nine tipped in colour and three full page b&w illustrations, b&w vignettes, pictorial boards and endpapers with cloth spine which has been professionally repaired. Wear on front corners and edges, some insect marks on the front board not affecting the title of illustration.

Muir in "A History of Australian Children's Book Illustration" calls this the Durack's major book and remarks on its uniquely Australian character and its demonstration of the Australian public's growing appreciation for Aboriginal art and culture.
