Thornley. 255 pp. 120 photographs printed in photogravure, grouped in seven sections: Landscapes, Types, Nudes (male and female), Details, Buildings and Ornaments, Fantasy (Surrealist-inspired photographs, including montage), and Heads. Born in Colombo, Wendt trained as a classical pianist, turning to photography in the early 1930s. He assisted Basil Wright on the famous documentary "Song of Ceylon" and on several films with the G.P.O. film unit during brief visits to England. One of 5000 copies printed. The jacket has corner tears on the spine, slightly obscuring the "L" in Lionel, minor damp stains on the front board, neat gift insciption on FEP, preliminaries have some minor marks.
