This magnificent study is the outcome of 15 years of research by Dr Veron and his many collaborators and is said to be the first systematic reference of its type and scope. In addition to the mass of technical and scientific data collected the volume will also be prized for its wonderful collection of illustrations, many coming from Australia's most renowned underwater photographers. Covers coral species found on all of Australia's reefs as well as those of other countries in the Indo-Pacfific region. Corals are arrange in 35 family groups, preceded by five brief background chapters, with sections on geological history, biogeography, glossary and index closing the work. 644 pages, lavishly illustrated throughout with photographs, art, drawings, diagrams and maps, the vast majority being colour.
